1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between page views. Browsers also offer local storage, session storage and service workers, which do similar jobs by different means. This notice covers all of them, because from your side of the screen the difference hardly matters.
SoloJudge uses very little of this. There is no account system, no sign-in and no cross-site tracking built into the pages.
2. What is stored here

3. How this relates to the banner
The banner records a plain choice: Accept or Decline. Necessary storage and the notification service load with the page, because the site cannot remember your answer or offer alerts without them; declining stops advertising storage and leaves the rest untouched. Your choice is kept in your own browser and can be changed at any time by clearing site data, which brings the banner back on the next visit.
4. How to switch things off
- Notifications. Open the site settings in your browser (usually the padlock or information icon in the address bar) and set notifications to Block. Existing alerts stop immediately.
- Stored data for this site. Clear cookies and site data for solojudge.com in your browser's privacy settings. This also clears the record of your banner choice.
- All cookies. Every major browser can block cookies entirely or accept them only for the site you are on. Blocking everything will break parts of many sites, though this one will still be readable.
- Advertising identifiers on Android. Your device settings include controls for advertising personalisation and for resetting the advertising identifier.
5. OneSignal in detail
Browser notifications are delivered through OneSignal, which acts as our processor. Its SDK is loaded on every page of this site and registers a service worker file at the root of the domain. When you allow notifications, OneSignal creates a subscription record holding an identifier, your browser and operating system type, language and approximate time zone. If you submit the dispatch form, the e-mail address you entered is stored against that record so the same list can be reached by both channels.
